I love Volvo 240's and I've always been partial to production car racing. Naturally, this means I love 240 production racing.  But since I live in the U.S. this has been frustrating since Group A racing organizers did not see any need to bring this kind of Touring Car Racing to the U.S. in the 1980's. This means finding fresh info on the Group A races here has been difficult.  I began this page in 2002, when very little info could be found on this subject.  Thanks to the internet, much more info is now available.  The below information has been compiled through years of research.  I have received help from and I am greatful for a few people at Volvo who were involved in developing and racing the 240 in Group A, who wish to remain anonimous.  I am also thankful to the following, who have contributed to my research in many different ways: Ferdinand Metz (USA), Anthony Hyde (Aus), Dana Howe (USA), Christian Edstrom (USA), John Amundson (Aus), David Russell (USA) and Tom Smith (USA).

Here are some more great resources for 240 Turbo Group A racing:

Anthony Hyde's (Australia) well documented page

Björn Ohlson's Volvo Group A page with great parts and car photos

http://www.volvogrupp-a.se/eng_index.htm (English)

I very much welcome your comments regarding these cars and racing programs, including  ETCC, DTM, Swedish, Australian and other programs.  I am also interested in articles and videos that were created when these cars were racing.  If you have any info you would like to share, please write me.   Meanwhile, I have posted a few of the articles I have found about the 240 Turbo racing effort....  CLICK HERE!

VIDEOS: VOLVO 240 TURBO GROUP A RACING PROGRAM
During my quest, I have located some videos from the 1980's covering Volvo 240 Group A racing.
These videos provide a wonderfully entertaining history of Volvo's Group A racing effort during the 1980's.
These videos are recorded on DVD-R's, which will play in most DVD players*.

*For a list of DVD players that are NOT compatible with DVD-R's CLICK HERE.

VIDEO QUALITY: The overall quality of these videos is good, however there are a few parts on a couple of them that are not perfect, such as minor glitches with contrast or a flutter on occasion.  I think this is because the original video tapes were very old.
